‘2025 Gangwon Semiconductor Forum’ Opens on the 29th — Spotlight on the Chips Gangwon Strategy

As the semiconductor industry undergoes a major transformation in the era of AI, the 2025 Gangwon Semiconductor Forum will be held from January 29 to 30 at the Grand Auditorium on the 3rd floor of the Wonju Medical Device Industry Promotion Institute.

Co-hosted by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, Wonju City, and Kangwon Ilbo, the forum will be held under the theme “The Age of AI: Challenges and Strategies of Chips Gangwon.” Industry leaders, academics, and research experts will gather to explore the potential and role of a Gangwon-style semiconductor ecosystem.

In particular, Gangwon’s strategy to rise as a central hub of future industries—not merely a supplementary region to the Seoul metropolitan area—through semiconductor testbeds and AI convergence initiatives will take center stage.

The event will open with a ceremony and performance, followed by keynote speeches from Yang Hyang-ja, Chair of the People Power Party’s Committee on Advanced Industries for Semiconductors and AI, and Wu Chin-Tzu, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of ASUS.

In the afternoon, Yonsei University Mirae Campus and semiconductor companies will participate in a panel discussion on testbeds, technology development, and workforce training.

On the second day, a keynote address by Lee Jong-Hyuk, Executive Director at DB Hitek, will be followed by presentations and panels featuring Kangwon National University, Sangji University, and Gangwon Technopark.

A poster session showcasing research achievements from regional universities and institutes will also be held as a side event, serving as a platform for sharing cutting-edge technologies.
